Erie is expanding in population and new people around town may not know places in and around Erie that are family friendly and fun to visit. A few places in Erie would be PJs, Pink Pony, the Bread Lady, Heritage Park, elementary school park, and the golf course. Places around Erie that can be visited are the Prophetstown pool, Ronald Reagan’s birthplace, and Rockwood.
Two restaurants in Erie were listed above: PJs and Pink Pony. These are two of the most recognizable restaurants within the town. They have a long standing relationship with the Erie community. Each restaurant has its own unique style that has satisfied the hunger in Erie for years. Mr. Tod McCullough, teacher at Erie High School, frequents both restaurants often and agrees that both restaurants are a big part of the community. The Bread Lady is a lovely woman who lives on Route 2. She is called the Bread Lady because she makes and sell bread and other pastries from her home. She has her stand open every Sunday morning and sells many things including cinnamon rolls and different types of bread. After interviewing multiple people, many said that they have been there and really liked it or that they wish to go and visit her and acquire some of her goodies.
The Heritage Park is filled with open space, a ball field, and reliable equipment for family friendly time for both parents and children. The Elementary park is not much different than the Heritage Park. It is closer to the center of Erie and has newer equipment. Lake Erie Country Club holds the nine hole golf course. Mr. Jason Orman, a member, spoke about the course. The golf course does have members but is still open to the public. Erie High School’s golf team practices and has meets here. “I really enjoy the course… we have pretty good members that are fun to be around,” said Mr. Orman.
Prophetstown pool has a basketball court, weight room, and a pool. It is a fun experience to swim and to have birthday parties at. Here they have classes like water aerobics, yoga, etc. Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico and there is a small museum where this happened. This is not considered his boyhood home but it is still an interesting place to visit. Rockwood State Park, located in Morrison, has many activities to do while there. You can kayak, paddle boat, fish, eat at the restaurant, and hike.
In conclusion, Erie is an up and growing community with many new families moving in. Many people do not know places to visit in the area for family time. Some places to visit in Erie are PJs, Pink Pony, The Bread Lady, Heritage Park and much more. A few places outside of Erie would be the Prophetstown pool, Ronald Reagan’s birthplace, and Rockwood. Erie is an amazing town filled with great people and is surrounded by friendly communities.
